In October the weather here in Montreal was terrible. It was rainy and windy almost everyday and of course
mostly on weekends. I went out shooting only once - to the Botanical Garden in Montreal. There was one
juvenile Hooded Merganser. It was quite cooperative and I managed to take a few acceptable photos.
This is one of them where I captured him during wing excercising.

The first two days of October I spent at home in Ruzomberok, Slovakia. I was mostly packing for
my return to Canada. I had some time however, so I decided to make a photo documentation
of my collection of stuffed birds. The picture below is a photo of an European Robin, which
I found dead close to a sulphuric gas pool at Rojkovske Raselinisko (peatbog) in 1996. My
taxidermist told me that the robin died on impact (probably with a tree), and I believed that
he was under the influence of the gases from the nearby pool. I have 8 species of birds in my
small collection, all of them were found dead, either on impact or frozen and I wanted to
preserve them and their beauty. I think that this Robin still looks like alive after those 7 years.
